About

Automatic item generation (AIG) has been ongoing research for a couple of decades. However, its development and progress is often hindered by the availability and functionality of the software. There are many AIG programs developed in the past. Most of them are either not freely available or not user-friendly. However, the AIG platform is a web-based tool that is free to the public and user-friendly. It can help users build a model/template that generates multiple-choice items and testlet items that share a common stimulus. In addition, users can output selected items for their use.

This is Yan Fu. I am an AIG enthusiast, and I have a Ph.D. in Educational Research and Methodology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and I am currently a psychometrician at GMAC.

My recent research findings demonstrate a way of applying Weak Theory approach to create AIG items and testing them. Weak Theory approach does not require content experts to use cognitive theory to create AIG templates and items. In my study, I illustrate a way to build a template that generates isomorphic instances which do not require pretesting all generated items from a model/template. It can save the testing program time and energy in pretesting AIG items. Here is the article:

My recent published article showcases a way that can streamline the TAIG development. The method is fully implemented in this system. Here is the article:
